Selectors include Chanderpaul, Edwards and Bishoo in Test squad

West Indies News: Team for the first Test announced

The 13-man squad for the first Test against Pakistan has been announced by West Indies selectors. Devendra Bishoo is the only specialist spinner, and he is expected to make his Test debut. As expected Chanderpaul returns along with fit-again Fidel Edwards who is coming back after two-year break due to a back injury.

West Indies are in a 17-Test win-less streak, as they hope Marlon Samuels and Brendon Nash bring some luck with their return to the Test squad. They will move from seventh to sixth place if they beat Pakistan in the series. Nash is named as vice-captain to Darren Sammy. Devon Smith and Lendl Simmons will open in all probability as the other opener Kraigg Brathwaite has been omitted from the team that played the practice game in Guyana.

Fast bowling line-up looks impressive with Kemar Roach, Rampaul and Edwards playing together. The first Test starts on 12th in Providence and the second Test is on 20th in St Kitts.

Test Squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Brendan Nash, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Devon Smith, Lendl Simmons, Darren Bravo, Ravi Rampaul, Marlon Samuels, Fidel Edwards, Devendra Bishoo, Carlton Baugh (wk), Kemar Roach
